Showers keeping fields green and growing.

We have been very fortunate compared to Wales and the West Country as far as rain is concerned. We have had a few showers but plenty of dry and often sunny weather in between so we can't grumble. This is helping the rugby pitches to recover from the almost month long drought we had in June.

The weather wasn't kind for the second day of the Womens' County Cup 20/20 matches and the covers were on and off more times than I can remember.

As far as preparations for the Michaelmas Term are concerned, we have initial marked rugby pitches on Bigside 2-6, Bigside 1 will be left for a couple weeks yet, all 5 rugby pitches on Derby Field plus training grids and 2 rugby pitches on Farm Field plus grids. We have a rugby pitch on Rockies to do plus 2 hockey pitches and 2 lacrosse pitches on Turf. So we are making good progress despite the rain.

There are still plenty of cricket matches to be played at Wellington College and with a wetter than average forecast for the rest of the Summer the covers should see plenty of action!
