Good Weather (if your a Groundsman)!

Listed under: Sports Pitches
The recent spell of warm sunshine and frequent showers, some heavy, has been most welcome, unless your a sunbathing sun worshiper!
After the grass had turned straw brown due to the recent drought it is now recovering quickly and turning back to it's verdant state. This is most welcome with a lot of activities still happening on the playing fields, at least there is now chance of recovery from wear.
The weather has also been ideal for cricket pitch end repairs. The weather hasn't been too unkind either for initial marking rugby pitches for the Michaelmas term, 5 pitches and training grids on Bigside have been initial marked as have 2 pitches on Derby Field.
Tomorrow should be another good day for pitch preparation and repairs, but Friday looks as though it will be a day for rugby post painting and machinery repairs and servicing as prolonged heavy rain is forecast.
