An overnight low of -4C has frozen the pitches and prevented further drainage of the surface water on the pitches. The surface water had turned to ice this morning but a high of 9.4C early this afternoon quickly melted the ice and softened the surface of the pitches but was still hard underneath. Fortunately being Wednesday there was no sport on the pitches which prevented damage to the turf from root shear.
