Thanks to Doug and Kestrel Contractors Ltd., all our winter pitches were re-seeded yesterday with Barenbrug Bar 9 grass seed which has excellent wear tolerance with good sward density and improved drought tolerance:
40% Concerto
Perennial ryegrass for excellent wear tolerance and shoot recovery under low nitrogen input, with good colour summer and winter.
40% Fandango
Perennial ryegrass for excellent wear tolerance, shoot recovery and density.
20% Chopin
Strong creeping red fescue for strong rhizome production for recovery, improves drought tolerance.
One of our rugby/football pitches which is right next to a cricket square on our main 1st XI cricket field called Turf is sown with Barenbrug Bar Extreme which has rapid establishment with extreme wear tolerance and recovery. Superior fineness of leaf, high shoot density, cleanness of cut and tolerance of Leaf Spot and close mowing. This is a 100% ryegrass blend of cultivars with:
Bargold: Superior fineness of leaf, rapid establishment, excellent wear and Leaf Spot tolerance, close mowing capability (down to 5mm)
Fandango: High shoot density and recovery, excellent tolerance to Red Thread and superb cleanness of cut
Bareuro: Fast establishment, superior wear tolerance, very fine-leafed, superb cleanness of cut, excellent shoot recovery and tolerance to close mowing (down to 5mm)
Mowing height down to 5mm golf and 2mm cricket.
This was chosen mainly for it's fineness of leaf and tolerance to close mowing on the cricket outfield coupled with it's high wear tolerance for use during rugby and football on the same area.
