As the final week of term arrives we are starting to dismantle and store goals from pitches that are no longer required. The rugby posts from Rockies came down today as did all the hockey goals on Turf (3 pitches).
All the initial marking for the athletics track and field events have been completed on Rockies. Four tennis courts have been initial marked on the Bawden/Martin pitch and the court divider net wire installed.
A lot of progress has been made with rolling with the heavy roller seeing action on all the squares. About 25 hours or more of rolling so far on each of the 10 squares. Rain forecast for this week may mean a halt in rolling from time to time. A mechanical hitch meant we had to hire in a roller for a couple of days on Derby Field but Lister Wilder's field engineer was quickly on site to repair our roller and put us back in business. Thanks Nigel!
Little progress has been made towards the International Rugby Festival at Easter as football is still being played on the festival pitches.
Work started today replacing six of the concrete artificial cricket nets by the Pink Pavilion. This work is being carried out by contractors.
Tons more to do before the start of the summer term so I hope the weather doesn't go against us.
