After 19 days without rain we have finally had 2.9mm today. We are now almost into May and there has been no moisture to germinate the grass seed on the winter sports pitches which has given me some concern.

Bigside 1 (1st XV) rugby pitch was dressed with 60 tonnes of medium fine sand and verti-drained just over a week ago and I have had to use self travelling sprinklers on the pitch to get the seed to germinate.

If we are going to get some showers next week I may put a 12.6.6 feed on to give the pitches a kick start.

The next priority is to re-hang the Apsley cricket nets after the support poles were damaged over the winter.
